How's your mental load leading up to the holidays? π€― β I'll be honest and say that my head felt (almost) ready to shut down! π« β Between organising and taking part in what feels like 1 million things - gift planning, gift buying, wrapping, decorating the house, holiday social events, packing for a holiday, traveling overseas with kids in tow, renewing insurances, finalising accommodation details, getting hair cuts for the whole family, sending cards, seeing family, taking children to birthday parties, helping the kids with their homework, keeping the home 'somewhat' tidy, cooking and feeding a family, laundry (so many flipping RED jumpers to wash during the Christmas season and I panic it will turn all of our clothes pink) all while working, running my business, seeing clients, trying to keep up a relationship with my partner (like passing ships in the night π) and planning for 2025 ahead...it was all a bit much, right? β How has your schedule felt, dare I ask? π«£ β But here's the thing I wanted to say today. β Most of us feel like life is busy. There are always things we want to do and we tell ourselves that we 'don't have time'. Yet, in busy seasons like this, we manage to somehow do it all, don't we? β Why's that? β Here's the reason. β Priorities. β We make things a priority and we acknowledge their importance (for us) so we do them. β When we say 'we don't have time' it's about what we're prioritising in life. Sometimes we prioritise things consciously (we are aware of it) and other times we don't realise we're doing it (prioritising something or putting something off). It's like we're stuck in a pattern of thinking that's just on autopilot. β But when we're not doing something we want (or telling ourselves that we're too busy), it means we're prioritising other things. So you want to get clear on what you're prioritising and be aware of the choices you're making. β For example, you've been wanting to go to this creative photography class on Friday evenings but it's when you also usually spend time with the kids and have a family movie night. β This means you're prioritising having movie night with the family over going to the photography class. And that's perfectly ok! This isn't an excuse. It's how you're prioritising things. β Photography course = less important than family time. (That's your choice.) β Now, if you say you 'don't have time', is that accurate? You could go but you're choosing not to because of your priorities. β This isn't about being 'blamed', it's about seeing things as priorities. β (And yes, some things don't have the same flexibility as others so we are all working with our own circumstances.) β With this in mind, take some time to think about some things in your life that you have been wanting to do but haven't for some reason or another. β Make a list and think about WHY you're not doing them. What are you doing instead? What are you prioritising over doing the things you want? β Are you happy with the way your priorities have been placed? Or would you like to make changes? Reorganise your priorities for 2025? π€ β With Christmas looming over us, for many our priority is togetherness (and eating as much delicious food as possible - or is that just me?π). β Wishing you a holiday of love, laughter, good health and priorities that support you in what you want in life. β I do have time to exercise right now...but I'm choosing to go eat again instead. π β Merry Christmas/happy holidays to you all! β π Martina β |

It's that awkward time between Christmas and New Years when many people find themselves a little lost. Many of us have just had a big celebration (most likely accompanied by copious amounts of food) and there's possibly another big one looming ahead for New Year's Eve. It sounds so futuristic - I have visions of...
